Aperitif time is a time of the day that brings everyone together. It doesn’t matter whether it’s on Friday after work or in summer on vacation: aperitif is a moment in which we share the pleasure of eating and drinking well in good company of friends or colleagues. There are many variations of aperitif and its most enjoyable feature is that every moment is never the same as another.

How can you add an extra touch to your aperitif? Accompany it with a glass of sparkling wine!

Although many people drink it during holidays, this sparkling wine can be appreciated every day.

Lugana Brut Dop Metodo Classico by Cantina Franzosi can be drunk as an aperitif wine and is also ideal for the whole meal. Before recommending food pairings, let’s find out what are the features that distinguish it in the world of sparkling wines.

It is a wine made from 100% Trebbiano di Lugana grapes, a native white grape variety cultivated for centuries in the area south of Lake Garda, between Desenzano and Peschiera, shared by the two regions of Lombardy and Veneto.

In the past this area was covered by marshy woods, the ancient Selva Lucana, from which the vine takes its name.

These soils cannot be worked so easily: they get compact and hard with drought, soft and muddy with rain. And these soils give Lugana wine extraordinary characteristics of minerality, flavour, structure and longevity.

The unique climate of Lake Garda, with its large body of water, ensures fresh breeze and mild temperature: a perfect “climate cradle” to enhance the peculiarities of a particular grape like Trebbiano di Lugana.

Millions of years of geological upheaval are enclosed in a glass of Lugana.

In 1967 the Controlled Denomination of Origin was created and the success of Lugana wine kept on growing both in Italy and abroad.

Lugana still wine is also made from Trebbiano di Lugana vine, but the grapes destined for Lugana Brut are those harvested first, since they must have good acidity. After the harvest by hand and a careful selection of the grapes, in the initial phase the grapes are subjected to a soft pressing to ensure that the typical aromas are released. The production process is the Classic Method (Champenoise Method), therefore, this wine requires aging in the bottle for at least 18 months, to enrich itself with aromas, flavours and natural bubbles.

It is a special wine characterized by notes of yeast and dry pastry, jams, dried flowers, notes of citrus and dried fruit, savory and pleasantly fresh, creamy, fine and elegant.

Lugana Brut Dop Metodo Classico can be drunk alone for a toast, accompanied by appetizers based on our gastronomic specialties. And what about the pairing with first courses?
